Meet longtime client and dedicated class attendee Alaina, our October Mom of the Month!
Where are you originally from?
I'm from Enumclaw. If you've ever been to Mt. Rainier, you've probably driven through.
When did you join FIT4MOM?
I joined FIT4MOM three years ago when my oldest son was 4 months old. I took a short break when I was pregnant with my second son and working full time, but had to come back!
What classes do you attend?
Who is your workout buddy and their age?
My buddies are Elijah (3.5) and Elston (17 Months)
What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?
Just one?!?! I love being able to bring my boys to class with me (well, sometimes...). They see how important it is to exercise and making healthy choices. I also love how many fun moms and kids we have met. A little cardio and adult conversation always starts the day off right!
How has FIT4MOM changed your lifestyle choices?
Exercise has always been important to me, but FIT4MOM has taken it to a whole new level! I make exercise a top priority and try to make as many classes as possible. It has also made me more diligent about being active with my family - even when it's rainy and dark many months of the year!
What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?
Before staying at home, I was an elementary school teacher.
Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” – is it important for moms to join a village?
Raising children definitely takes a village! I think it is so important for all families to find a village of people who care for your children and who can relate to your successes and challenges as a parent. I feel so fortunate to have close friends to count on when life happens. I know they will listen if it's been a tough day, give suggestions if I've run out of ideas and love my kids like their own. All moms need a village, it's a lonely job without one.
What is your favorite beverage?
Before noon = sparkling water. After noon = a margarita
What is your favorite dessert?
Brownies, ice cream, cookies....all of them.
You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?
Get a pedicure, then dinner with my husband.
What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?
A tropical beach would be great, but really, any child free vacation would be pretty amazing ;)
How has becoming a mother changed you? Becoming a mother has shifted my priorities and concerns. I don't worry as much about the small things. I've also become a more patient person...some days that's hard to see ;)
I am happiest when...
The day is done, everyone is asleep and the house is clean and silent. It always feels like I just conquered the day.
