I know all moms are tired, but there’s a special kind of tiredness reserved for pregnant mothers of toddlers. My son had been awake multiple times throughout the night (unusual) and then up for the day at 5am (unfortunately not unusual). I participated in Stroller Strides in the morning, then took my son to a play date at a park. I was exhausted. In addition, I’d been experiencing more Braxton-Hicks contractions than normal. Needless to say, I was glad I had pre-enrolled in Fit4Baby online to hold myself accountable.
Prior to class, I made the mistake of eating a heavy meal for dinner. Combined with my overtiredness and pesky contractions, I chose to take it easy. The class theme was “30s” where we did 30 of each exercise for two rounds. I modified the jumping moves and some of the running, and I used a green band instead of my usual red. The new green band provided in class turned out to have more resistance than my personal red band! (Note to self – get a new band.)
We worked out in the studio before heading out onto the parking garage rooftop for the remainder of class. On my way home, I was thinking about my pre-baby workout days. Prior to joining FIT4MOM I always did classes indoors at a gym. Now, I can’t imagine being stuck inside working out when it’s gorgeous outside, with plenty of fresh air. As small as this may seem, it’s been one of the most pleasant surprises of my “mom” life. Regardless of the time of year, if it’s nice out, being outside is relaxing for me. What a great way to end a hectic day!
