Grilling season is upon us and this is a recipe I came up with a decade ago after I had an amazing turkey burger filled with diced veggies at a friend’s BBQ. The veggies and soy add lots of flavor and moisture, which turkey burgers need.
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1/2 red pepper, diced very small
- 2-3 T diced fresh scallions or red onion
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 c soy sauce
- Fresh ground pepper to taste
Gently mix all ingredients in a large bowl until incorporated. Do not over mix. Based on the fat content in the turkey, you may need to adjust the amount of soy. The meat should be able to form into patties, so do not overdo the soy. Form into 4 patties and place in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Spray indoor or outdoor grill with non-stick spray. Grill burgers until completely cooked through.
Enjoy with or without a roll. Happy grilling!
