Mom of the Month: Jennifer Wiley

Jennifer has been a mainstay in our Body Back program for years, and transitioned to Fit4Baby when she was expecting her second. We're excited to welcome this fun and busy mama of two boys back to studio classes soon!

Where are you originally from?

I usually tell people I’m from Oregon to keep it easy but I actually grew up in Boston, Minneapolis, and on the Oregon Coast!

When did you join FIT4MOM?

A close friend told me how much they had enjoyed their Body Back session and I decided to give Body Back a try when I was ready to start exercising after my first baby.

What classes do you attend?

Body Back, Body Back Boost, and Fit4Baby have been my mainstays. I can occasionally be found at TRX and Yoga.

Who is/are your workout buddy(ies) and their age(s)?

I prefer to work out with just grownups (!) but am trying to instill healthy habits in Elliott (7) and Soren (3 weeks).

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?

The camaraderie, encouragement toward goals, and fun atmosphere. After I had my first child I had a difficult time finding “my people”. Within weeks of joining FIT4MOM I felt like I had found people who I liked hanging out with.

What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?

I’m loving being on maternity leave right now but in a few months I will be back to being the head of the regulatory affairs department for a local biotech company.

Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” – is it important for moms to join a village?

Yes, I think it’s important for moms to have a village. It is such a relief to be able to have people (outside of family) to talk to about the good and bad that is going on in life.

What is your favorite beverage?

Water.

What is your favorite dessert?

Chocolate.

You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?

Massage…sleep…long phone call with a good friend.

What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?

Hmmm, not sure. Maybe hiking through New Zealand.

How has becoming a mother changed you?

I’m way more emotional than I used to be and also more tolerant/forgiving of others.

I am happiest when...

I’ve had 8 hours of sleep, worked out, and both kiddos are calm.
