Where are you originally from?
I grew up in California (in Sonoma County) and moved to Washington 7.5 years ago.
When did you join FIT4MOM?
I joined last December, right after I'd gotten through the first trimester of being pregnant with Kaleb, and started with Fit4Baby classes.
What classes do you attend?
I started with Fit4Baby and am now attending Stroller Strides in Redmond.
Who is/are your workout buddy(ies) and their age(s)?
My workout buddy is Kaleb who was born 6/18/2019!
What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?
One of my favorite things when I first joined was that it showed me how much pregnant women are able to do. When I first got pregnant I felt a little unsure of what exercises were still OK. I remember seeing everyone do jumping jacks in my first Fit4Baby class and being so impressed. It really encouraged me to keep working out throughout my pregnancy! I also love the friendships I've made through FIT4MOM!
What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?
I'm a Program Manager at Microsoft, but am currently on maternity leave and am enjoying getting to spend all my time with Kaleb. :)
Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” – is it important for moms to join a village?
It absolutely takes a village! We've been really fortunate to be able to have my parents come for some long visits since Kaleb was born and it's been a huge help. It's amazing how much such a tiny human needs!
It has also been so helpful to be able to talk to the other moms I've met through FIT4MOM. Being a mom is absolutely the most rewarding thing I've ever done, but it's also the most challenging. It helps to know that you're not alone and that other moms go through the same things.
What is your favorite beverage?
Mocha or hot chocolate :)
What is your favorite dessert?
Pretty much anything chocolate! But I especially love the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes at Pinkabella!
You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?
Sleep for 4 straight hours!
What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?
My favorite vacations involve camping and hiking in beautiful places, so I'd love to go to Alaska and visit some of the National Parks there.
How has becoming a mother changed you?
Being a mother has taught me to be more selfless and to really always put someone else before myself.
I'm the kind of person who loves having a plan, and having Kaleb has taught me to roll with the punches more, since there's no way a baby is going to go by my schedule.
He's also helped me spend more time appreciating the simple things in life, like his snuggles or his smiles :)
I am happiest when...
Two months ago I would have said that I'm happiest when I'm out running or hiking with my husband, Jakub. But now that I'm a mom, nothing makes me happier than seeing Kaleb smile! He recently learned to stick out his tongue and is all smiles and giggles if we sit sticking out our tongues at each other. :)
