Mom of the Month: Kelsey Peterson

Where are you originally from?

Born and raised right here in Seattle.

When did you join FIT4MOM?

Joined in 2018 when Max was 2 months old.

What classes do you attend?

Stroller Strides and as many studio classes I can! Body Ignite is my fave. I loved my time in Body Back as well!

Who is/are your workout buddy(ies) and their age(s)?

Max, 14 months

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?

The community. Classes are so fun when you don’t have to worry about being judged if you feel you aren’t strong enough. Everyone is so encouraging and supportive and are so thrilled that you have come to better yourself and your family.

What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?

I work full time as an HR benefits and wellness program specialist for a commercial fishing company in Seattle

Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” – is it important for moms to join a village?

I think that the village takes on so many different forms depending on your needs at the time. Sometimes it is there for you to help others, sometimes people literally come to you and give you support. Sometimes it’s just a friendly message or smile.

I thought i didn’t need a village. I thought i could do it alone. I found out that is a terrible idea. I was not my best self and therefore not the best mom or wife. Reaching out for help is so important, and having a village to support you, even if it’s only to vent, can be life changing.

What is your favorite beverage?

There is no way I have one, but since it’s fall I absolutely love an eggnog latte. I wait ALL year for those

What is your favorite dessert?

Hmmm I’m not huge on dessert, but i love my Aunt's Pecan pie.

You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?

Holy luxury! I’d split it to have time time for myself and spend time with my husband. I’d go get a pedicure, like the deluxe one, then I’d go to dinner and if the babysitter is not at our house...go home for some dessert.

What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?

I love vacations to do something but I always feel like I am on the go these days. I’d love an all inclusive resort with unlimited spa options and an epic beach.

How has becoming a mother changed you?

So much for the better. I had no idea how much i could multitask! But really i would say that it has opened my eyes to the capacity i have for patience and compassion and love. Watching Max grow, his determination to learn a new skill, seeing his daddy’s eyes light up when all runs to him, finding stores of patience I didn’t know I had when Max throws spaghetti onto the white carpet...all of it. I would change any of it because my life is so blessed. Being a mom was something I always wanted but I didn’t know how much until it was hard to get pregnant and then Max was actually born. It didn’t complete me, but it helped my heart grow so much more than I could have imagined.

I am happiest when...

Dan, Max and I are on an adventure...preferably at a racetrack.
