Mom of the Month (1).png

Mom of the month: Christyn Fusco

Where are you originally from?

I was born in the Philippines and moved to the U.S. when I was 12. I grew up in San Diego, CA and consider it home.

When did you join FIT4MOM?

I joined FIT4MOM last October 2021.

What classes do you attend?

Stroller Strides!

Who is your workout buddy and their age?

My daughter Gianna, who turns just turned one!

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?

I love the fact that Gianna gets the opportunity to socialize with kids her own age. I grew up being so shy (and am still very shy now) so it’s nice seeing her become a social butterfly at such a young age. It has also been a great way for me to meet some of the kindest, sweetest mamas.

What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?

I’m a SAHM! I worked as a Purchasing Manager in San Diego before I got married, then worked as a teaching assistant and a substitute teacher for grades 1-3 before we moved to WA.

Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” - is it important for moms to join a village?

As a first time mama who lives away from family and close friends, I truly believe that it does take a village to raise kids. Motherhood can feel so isolating at times, even when you have the extra help. I think that it’s important for moms to be part of a group of other women who make them feel like they aren’t alone, who truly get it, and are “in the trenches” with them. With that said, FIT4MOM has become my saving grace. You ladies rock!

What is your favorite beverage?

For non-alcoholic drinks, I have a long time obsession with grapefruit seltzer. Though I don’t drink often, I’m a red wine gal. Oh and I believe that you can never do a taco Tuesday without a margarita or two!

What is your favorite dessert?

Chocolate is my weakness! Can’t go wrong with something as simple as block of chocolate dipped into a jar of peanut butter. Also, I don’t know how to ever say no to a donut.

You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?

Alone time please! I would go get a full body massage! Then maybe go to a cute cafe, enjoy a nice cup of coffee and read a book.

What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?

Island hopping all over Greece!

How has becoming a mother changed you?

I’ve learned to be more lax with my OCD tendencies. I tend to keep everything nice and neat all the time, and I have come to terms that having a little one changes that just a tad bit.

I am happiest when…

I am happiest when Gianna is cuddled up in my arms.
