Mom of the Month: Jennifer Baker

Name: Jennifer Baker

Where are you originally from? Born and raised Washingtonian- most of my childhood I grew up on South Whidbey and then went to college at Washington State (Go Cougs!)

When did you join FIT4MOM? I joined five years ago, when Brayden was a baby!

What classes do you attend? Currently Stroller Strides on Mondays and Saturdays, but I have also enjoyed Fit4Baby, Body Well, and HIIT classes.

Who is/are your workout buddy(ies) and their age(s)? Brayden is 5 years old and Makenna is 9 months old.

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM? I love Fit4Mom because it gives me time to focus on myself, stay active, and build connections with incredible moms who understand and support one another. It’s more than just fitness; it’s a community for our whole family. My son looks forward to playing with his Fit4Mom friends as well, and it’s a place where we both feel a sense of belonging.

What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)? I am a Child Life Specialist and currently am a supervisor for our Child Life team at Seattle Children's Hospital.

Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” – is it important for moms to join a village? Motherhood is such a shared journey, and it's essential to have caring, supportive individuals around who understand the ups and downs. Surrounding yourself with moms who respect and understand you, who listen and let you vent, and inspire and prioritize self care and exercise. Having this village to laugh with and learn from helps me be a better mom and reminds me I’m not on this journey alone.

What is your favorite beverage? Currently bubble tea or any holiday themed latte :)

What is your favorite dessert? That's a hard one, I have a sweet tooth- probably ice cream because there is such a good variety!

You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do? First a nice dinner out with my husband with no distractions and fully enjoying my meal :) then an ice cream and a nice walk after!

What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination? My husband and I love to backpack and hike and haven't done much lately so I would say hiking in the alps of Switzerland.

How has becoming a mother changed you? Motherhood has brought so much patience, love and joy, more than I could have ever imagined. There's something incredibly special about watching my two little ones grow and learn. The way their faces light up and their sweet hugs when they see me after a long day—it's the absolute best feeling. They bring out a level of happiness and fulfillment that makes every moment together feel like a gift.

I am happiest when...I am surrounded by my family and friends enjoying a big meal, laughing and playing board games together!
